About Me

Professional Experience

I am a licensed professional counselor in Tennessee. I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, and my Bachelor of Arts in Religion at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN.

While a student intern in my graduate program, I worked with clients who were residents of a long-term family housing program and at the university counseling center, where I worked with college students and community members.

After graduation, I worked in community mental health in several capacities. I worked for a mobile crisis program, supporting children and adolescents experiencing a mental health crisis and their families. I provided outpatient therapy to underserved youth and families in a community setting and worked at a clinic in a rural area, serving a diverse caseload with a variety of presenting concerns.

Once I had completed the requirements for licensure, I moved on to working in substance use treatment programs and had several roles including intake coordinator, intake manager, and utilization review.

I’ve also been honored with opportunities to work at a national level in the mental health space. I worked at a mental health education company that developed training courses to improve mental health literacy for the public and to train therapists and medical providers on effective therapy practices. I held leadership responsibilities and ensured the content was clinically sound, helpful, safe, and inclusive. Additionally, I had the opportunity to serve as a staff counselor for my profession’s national association and served as a subject matter expert on mental health and the counseling profession. During my time there, I presented at a national conference on the topic of suicide risk, produced and hosted podcast episodes, and authored several member resources.

I am a Tennessee board-approved supervisor for postgraduate professional counselors working towards their independent clinical licensure.

Personal

I have a variety of hobbies and interests, and the most enduring ones are art, painting, music, and reading. I enjoy being outside, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I’m a military spouse and we are currently living in the US Virgin Islands, where my husband is stationed with the Coast Guard. Our rescued pets Mikey (cat) and Happy (dog) run the show.
