What I Provide
Mental Health Care
I provide outpatient psychotherapy services to residents of Tennessee and work with teens (age 16+) and adults. This is also called mental health counseling or therapy.
Virtual Therapy
Therapy with me is virtual, also called telehealth or remote therapy. That means I’ll meet with you via a HIPAA-secure video call. I’ve found the video aspect is needed for us to develop rapport and for me to be able to help my clients most effectively.
The Process
I complete a comprehensive intake assessment to identify your most important needs and goals. During our first few sessions, we’ll discuss what prompted you to seek counseling and go further into your background and life circumstances. Having a comprehensive understanding of your individual experiences is vital to me to know how to best help.
Frequency
Most commonly, therapy sessions occur weekly. This is especially important in the beginning as I work to understand you and your needs and as we develop a therapeutic relationship. Occasionally, some people need bi-weekly sessions to help with stabilization and crisis prevention. As our work progresses, people gradually reduce the frequency of sessions.
Types of Therapy
My work is primarily with individuals. Families and other supportive people are sometimes involved in a limited number of sessions depending on my client’s needs and willingness. I do not provide couples therapy, pre-marital counseling, extended family therapy, or group therapy.
Insurance and Rates
I am “Tricare Certified” as an out-of-network provider for the Tricare East (Humana) region. For more information about “nonparticipating providers” check out this resource. Please reach out with questions about using your out-of-network Tricare benefits.
I am in-network with Aetna as of 5/30/24, however, the application processing time is quite long and has gone past the 120 days they say is typical, so I am currently still listed as out-of-network. I am able to see people with Aetna insurance, but I can’t submit claims until they are done with internal processing. For those with this insurance, co-payments will be collected for the time being, with claims submitted once I am able.
I am out-of-network with all other insurance at this time. I understand finances are a barrier to many people seeking the support they need, and I can help verify if you have out-of-network benefits. There is a service called Thrizer that you can use to check your benefits. I use it to help my clients save on their out-of-pocket costs. They can automatically submit superbills for you and allow you to pay only your co-insurance for my sessions, which could save you, on average, 70% on my full rate every session.
I also use Open Path Collective to manage my sliding scale and reduced fee offerings. You can check if I have reduced fee openings by visiting my Open Path Therapist Profile.
If you are a Black woman or girl, please check out the Loveland Foundation Therapy Fund. They provide scholarships that can help cover the cost of some of your therapy sessions.
